Wreck at Delta Blue
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
In Wreck at Delta Blue, you must investigate a wreckage outside the giant blue gas giant, fabled by many as a place of bad luck. Collect samples (glowing blue objects), and avoid crashing into asteroids and junk!
This game is an entry to Ludem Dare 50, my first Ludem Dare (not my first game jam though). My project can be found here.
Controls:
WS / Flight stick Up/Down - Pitch
QE / Flight stick Twist - Yaw
AD / Flight stick Left/Right - Roll
Arrow Keys / Flight stick analog - Look Around
Shift & Control / Flight stick speed setting - Flight Speed
If you see a "TURN BACK" text on the right side panel, you must try to fly back to where the asteroids are. Despite the title, you don't actually enter Delta Blue, but rather you are flying near it.
The game was made using Godot 4 Alpha 5, so expect many bugs! For example, there is was a bug involving the renderer, causing harmful flashing blue lights. This is fixed in Version 1.1. Please play that version instead.
There are also features that I would have liked to add, but ran out of time to do. Oooops...

I found the game very confusing. The game would restart whenever I got to a sample. Also the pitch and roll was extremely sensitive meaning I had to use yaw whenever possible. The first person view was cool though.
Thanks for playing! I heard of this issue before, so I decided to take a look. Turns out, I made it so you "win" when you only get two samples, instead of ten. Oops!
The sensitivity is pretty bad on keyboard. I spent the majority of the time testing using a flight stick, and should have paid more attention to the keyboard.
A patch fixing both of these, as well as a couple other issues is coming out shortly!
Played v1.1 it fixed all my major issues. The game is the most performant 3d game made with Godot 4 I've played yet. The cockpit of the spaceship has a very utilitarian but cool look to it (I really like the glass texture) with the only minor gripe with the cockpit being a lack of speedometer. And finally the planet Delta Blue has a very distinct look in game that the screenshots don't do justice.
